The 2023/24 FUFA Big League season will officially kick off today Thursday 21st September as Booma FC hosts Jinja North United at the Masindi Stadium.
Both sides come into a new season with new head coaches. Mark Twinamatsiko replaced Fred Alinaitwe at Booma whereas Sadick Ssempigi was appointed as the new man at Jinja North.
Twinamatsiko believes the club has done enough preparation to stake a claim for this season’s promotional slot.
“We have prepared so well, the players plus the technical team are ready to give the best as we embark on our seasonal target which is promotion to the top tier.”
His equal number Sempigi had an early preparation coupled with a massive recruitment of some of the players who won promotion last season with Mbarara City.
“The team arrived in Masindi on Tuesday in order to get used to the environment we are only hoping for a positive result today as the season starts. No doubt we have had the best preparations.”
Booma FC captured the signatures of former Kajjansi United trio John Wesley Kisakye, Badru Kabanda, Joseph Shisha as well as former URA winger Dickson Kigongo.
Other new signings at the club are Amos Muwonge, Patrick Mugume, Ibrahim Ekellot, Muhammad Kasirye, Edson Agondeze, Nicholas Senono, Dickson Niwamanya, Allan Mugalu and Faruku Samari.
For Jinja North; Lawrence Ndugga, Hakim Magombe, Shaban Wasswa, Dickson Outa, Desmond Arop, Isaac Mukiibi, Branson Nsubuga, Mugolofa Mutwalibu, Micheal Kimera, Bernardo Kateregga, Brian Mayanja Mululi and Amos Etoju are some of the players that have been signed by the Sempigi coached team.
