Rwanda Premier League club appoints Jackson Mayanja as new head coach

Jackson Mayanja ‘Mia Mia’ has been appointed as the new head coach for Rwanda Premier League club Sunrise FC for the rest of the season .

Mayanja has been confirmed as the replacement of Hassan Muhire who was relieved of his duties a week ago.

The Uganda Cranes and KCCA legend arrived in Rwanda last week and was in attendance of Sunrise’s 1-0 defeat to Muhazi United on Sunday.

He is expected to steer Sunrise FC back to the rails following the club’s poor start to the season.

Sunrise currently sit bottom of the table with only six points garnered from the eight games they have played so far.

The Nyagatare district based club is home to Ugandan players; Yafesi Mubiru, Robert Mukoghotya and Brian Ssali.

Mayanja’s immediate task will be an away game against AS Kigali on Sunday 5th November in Kigali.

He has formerly coached AS Kigali as Mike Mutebi’s assistant two years ago. He also coached top sides like Bunamwaya (Vipers), KCCA, URA FC, Simba SC in Tanzania, Kagera Sugar among others.

As a player, Mayanja played for KCCA, Al Masry (Egypt), Tunisia’s Esperance and Lowi FC in Oman.
