Sunrise kicked off their new era in style with a 1-0 victory away to AS Kigali in the Rwanda Premier league game on Sunday.

In Jackson Mayanja’s first game since taking the reins of Sunrise, his side turned things on to take down hosts AS Kigali.

Yafesi Mubiru’s sole strike in the second half fired his fellow countryman to a dream debut.

Mayanja replaced Hassan Muhire who was relieved of his duties.

“I am delighted that we managed to beat AS Kigali away from home. It was not an easy task for us but my players executed perfectly our tactical plan.” It is just a process and we still have alot to correct in the coming games.” Said Mayanja.

Sunrise came into this contest after losing six games and had only won twice this term. They now move to 9 points same as AS Kigali on the Rwanda Premier league table.
