Jubilee Insurance sponsors 50 cyclists to compete in an international stage

Jubilee Insurance has today announced its sponsorship of 50 cyclists who will be participating in the much-anticipated Jubilee Live Free Race powered by Grand Nairobi Bike Race (GNBR) on Sunday, 26th November 2023 in Nairobi Kenya. The company has covered the travel costs for the cycling team, at a cost of UGx 15 million. 

The Jubilee Live Free Race powered by GNBR, in its second edition, follows a title sponsorship by Jubilee Insurance to Exigent Ltd valued at UGx 496 million; UGx 248 million paid in cash towards the event planning and a further UGx 496 million on the advertising and promotion.

Building on the success of the inaugural event, Jubilee Live Free Race powered by Grand Nairobi Bike Race will bring together over 2,500 participants for a day of cycling competition and fun. This event will host individuals and cyclists from 18 nationalities including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, South Sudan, Rwanda, Nigeria, Zambia, Ivory Coast, Canada, France, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand, Slovakia, Switzerland, UK and USA.

While speaking during the flag off ceremony, Jubilee Life Insurance CEO Summit Guarav noted that the cycling competition would foster a sense of community and provide an opportunity for the Ugandan team to showcase their skills in an international stage. 

“We are so excited today as we flag off 50 cyclists drawn from various parts in Uganda for the Jubilee Live Free Race powered by GNBR. Our team will not only compete in an international stage but also demonstrate the spirit of resilience and determination that characterizes our company,” said Mr. Summit.

While speaking during the ceremony, Tony Katamba (one of the cyclists) expressed his gratitude to the company for making it possible to participate in the cycling competition in Nairobi. 

“We are so excited to be joining cyclists and cycling enthusiasts in Nairobi for the biggest cycling competition. I will be participating in the event for the second time this year. We look forward to bringing the awards home,” noted Tony.

Jubilee Live Free Race will consist of 6 categories: Kiddies Track, Black Mamba (48kms), Family Fun Ride (10km), Individual Race, Physically Challenged Race (48 Kms) and the Main Race (80kms). Individuals, cycling groups and corporate teams are eligible to register and participate in the event.

Jubilee Live Free Race will advocate for environmental stewardship and conservation. Climate change, deforestation and pollution continue to pose serious threats to communities and businesses worldwide. The UN Environmental Program reports that the African continent suffers the heaviest impact of climate crisis including severe drought and hottest temperatures.
