Minister Serwanga announces dates for Cycling competitions

Owek. Robert Serwanga Ssalongo has confirmed Sunday 14th April as the date for the 2024 Buganda Cycling competitions.

The competition will be among the 18 counties with in Buganda, participants from the diaspora will also take part in the competitions.

Ladies with ordinary bikes will compete in the 30km race while men in 90km race while those using the mountain sports bikes will compete in 60km for ladies and 90km for men.

Owek. Serwanga called upon all Kabaka’s subjects to come in large numbers and support the participants from their respective counties,

“Once again we thank the Kabaka for giving his subjects an opportunity to compete in cycling, I call upon all of you to come in huge numbers as we start this year in Luweero on Sunday 14th starting point is Luweero.”

The competition will be in Ssingo on 7th-July while on Sunday 8th we are to be in Ssese, Buddu competitions will take place on 6th-October as the climax is in 16th November at Lubiri Ring Road.”

Mathias Lukwago the chairman also called Kabaka’s subjects to support the competitions,

“This is an opportunity to provide jobs to Kabaka’s subjects as you know coaches, trainers and mechanics will be busy in this period let’s support the sport which we target to promote and produce professionals.”

Buganda Cycling Committee members Ahmed Ssemwanga Kabogoza the secretary and Isah Kimbugwe the head of communications were in attendance.

Date and venue for the competitions

Sunday 14th-April- Bulemeezi (Luweero)
Sunday. 07-April-Ssingo(Mityana)
Sunday 8th September- Ssese.
Sunday 9th October- Buddo(Masaka).
Grand finale on Sunday 16th November at Lubiri Ring Road.
