Steven Desse Mukwala stole the show with a pair of goals and assists as Asante Kotoko beat Nations FC 4-2 in the Ghana FA Cup Round of 64 on Tuesday night.

Mukwala put Kotoko in an early lead in the 6th minute of the game before providing assists for Isaac Oppong and Richmond Lamptey in the 12th and 17th minutes respectively.

The Uganda Cranes completed his brace from the penalty mark in the 47th minute after a foul on Oppong in the penalty area.

He had a chance to grab a hat trick in the 63rd minute but he was denied by the keeper who parried his effort for a corner kick.

Nafiu Sulemana and Asamoah Boateng Afriyie scored the goals for the losing side.

Mukwala had a torrid start to the 2023/24 season escalated by a pre-season injury and the team’s overall poor form in the opening 10 games.

He however scored one of the three goals in Asante Kotoko’s 3-1 win over Legon Cities FC in the league last Saturday.

Mukwala was arguably Kotoko’s best performer last season after netting 12 goals in his debut season in Ghana.

He is expected to return to action as Kotoko host Berekum Chelsea in the league on Monday 4th December in Kumasi.
