Uganda Netball Federation President Sarah Babirye granted bail

The Uganda Netball Federation president Hon. Sarah Babirye Kityo has been granted bail by the Anti Corruption Court.

Babirye has been granted her a cash bail worthy Seven Uganda Million shillings Shs7M) .

The Uganda Netball Federation President was arrested on Wednesday at home in Maya, Mpigi on charges of accountability.

On Thursday, She was presented before Anti Corruption Court in Kampala on charges of Fraudulent False Accounting contrary to section 23(b) of the Anti Corruption Act 2009 as amended.

Babirye is charged over failure to account for 186,374,110/ that was given to the Uganda Netball Federation for Pent Series and the Africa Netball championship held in November 2021.

Through her Lawyers, Joseph Luzige and Joshua Byamazima applied for bail on Thursday which was denied since the State Attorney Gloria Nzikuru had asked for time to verify the documents presented by the defendant’s sureties.

They have however been successful on Friday when His Worship Opit Christopher who granted Babirye a cash bail worthy Shs7M.

The Anti Corruption court has also revealed 6th December as the date when Babirye will return for court hearing.
