The games are organized by the Uganda Muslim Education Association (UMEA) and only involve Muslim founded secondary schools.

The schools will compete in six disciplines; Football, Netball, Volleyball, Handball, Table Tennis and Badminton.

Apart from Netball which involves only girls, all the aforementioned sporting disciplines will be competed for by both boys and girls.

The 2023 edition was hosted by Kawanda Secondary School and attracted over 40 Muslim-faith founded schools from across the country.

The UMEA games started in 1998 but rebranded to UMEA Solidarity Games in 2013 and this will be the 9th edition since the rebranding.
