Seiri Arigumaho late header denied Kitara from extending their lead at the top of the Uganda Premier league at Masindi Municipal Stadium on Tuesday.
Arigumaho levelled matters with ten minutes to normal time to cancel out Denis Omedi early strike.
Omedi fired the home side into the lead after nine minutes to send the Kitara faithfuls into delight.
Kitara had numerous scoring opportunities to extend their lead but couldn’t capitalize on them.
The stalemate means that Kitara are now two points above second placed Vipers SC (two games in hand) and BUL FC (one game in hand).
Victory for either Vipers or BUL FC tomorrow in the Namboole clash will take to the summit.
The draw means Mbarara City are now safe from relegation and are currently on 30 points.
Meanwhile, URA FC and Busoga United played out to a goalless stalemate in the other game that was played on Tuesday.
Busoga are now three points above the red zone with 22 points in 26 games.
Action will resume on Wednesday with BUL facing off with Vipers in a tilted clash while KCCA FC will lock horns with title chasing SC Villa, both games will be held at the newly refurbished Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.
