Embattled UPDF fight from a goal down against Maroons to keep survival hopes alive

Relegation threatened UPDF FC rallied from behind to register a 2-1 victory against Maroons FC at Bombo Barracks Military grounds.

Muwadda Mawejje and Faridi Rashidi scored each in the second half the and handed the Army men all the three points.

Darius Ojok put the Prison Warders in the lead in the 53rd minute of the game.

Muwadda Mawejje levelled matters in the 70th minute after heading home Aggrey Kirya’s well taken free kick.

Five minutes to full-time, Faridi Rashidi put the Army side in the lead with a goal that eventually won them the maximum points.

Despite victory, UPDF remains in the relegation zone with 24 points.

They will climax the season away from home against Wakiso Giants on Saturday 18th-May in a do or die encounter.

For the Army side to avoid relegation, they have to defeat Wakiso Giants in their last game and pray Busoga United is defeated by BUL FC in their last game.

Maroons FC is more than safe in the seventh position with 40 points.
