Nakivubo to be officially opened on 1st June under floodlights with mini tournament

The newly refurbished Nakivubo Stadium will officially be opened on 1st June, 2024 with various games on the menu for sports fraternity.

The stadium will host two test matches that will comprise of four Uganda Premier league teams.

The opening match will be between Kitara FC taking on URA FC while Express FC will battle arch-rivals SC Villa under the floodlights of Nakivubo on the same day.

On the same day, Moses Golola will renew his kickboxing rivalry with Umar Ssemata in a test contest at the same venue.

Boxing fans will also have a chance to watch Zebra Ssenyange Jr taking on Kitaka Ibrahim in a boxing test bout.

For starters, the Stadium was closed in 2015 and a project to renovate it was announced in 2017 as a collaboration between the Ugandan Government and Ham Enterprises.

At the redeveloped Stadium, Ham has installed seats, a gym, modern boxing ring, Basketball court.

Last month, President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta commissioned the Nakivubo war memorial stadium.
