Mawokota, Buddu excel at second Mini Regatta in Nakiwogo

The second Mini Regatta competitions of the 2024 Buganda Royal Regatta series was held at Nakiwogo in Entebbe where participants competed in 500 and 1000 meters.

The competition attracted Allen Nagirinya from Buwekula as the only lady to compete in the event.

In attendance was Entebbe Municipality Member of Parliament Hon.Micheal Mbwatekamwa, Hon Patrick Nsanja of Ntenjeru South, Omumyuka wa Sebwana Dr.Stephen Seruyange among other dignitaries.

The event was graced by Honor Owek Patrick Luwaga Mugumbule the Speaker of the Great Buganda Kingdom Lukiiko who hailed the chairman of Buganda Royal Regatta Committee Eng.Ben Misagga for his tremendous role towards the sport

“I thank those who have put effort into this sport, I thank the Minister, Eng. Ben. Missaga and other people who have seen this sport flourish, I have never expected what I have found here, people are many, adults and the young ones and as Buganda we love most of these kids to get involved in the activities of the kingdom. This has shown that the Royal regatta will be a big sport in Buganda.” Says the Chief Guest Owek. Patrick Luwaga Mugumbule

Owek.Robert Serwanga the Minister of Youth, Sports and Arts Buganda Kingdom was also in attendance.

“I take this opportunity to thank the people of Busiro for gracing this event. We aim at developing this sport in kingdom and I urge everyone to attend the final slated in August. “Said Owen; Sserwanga

On Saturday, Mawokota emerged winners in the 1000 metres, Buddu finished second while Buvuma came third.

Busiro won the 500 meters competitions, Buddu was second and Mawokota third. The grand finale will be held on 24 August in Busabala.
