SC Villa, URA victorious in Exhibition games at Refurbished Nakivubo

On Saturday, 1st June, newly redeveloped Nakivubo Stadium hosted it’s first football games during the grand opening.

URA FC cruised to a 3-0 comfortable win over Uganda Cup champions Kitara in the first match that was played at the venue.

Joseph Ssemujju became the first player to score at the new Nakivubo when he netted in the first minute of the game.

Ivan Ahimbisibwe had a brace for the Tax collectors who smiled to victory.

In the late kickoff games, Uganda Premier league champions SC Villa prevailed to a narrow 1-0 win over their arch-rivals Express FC.

Andrew Otim second half goal was enough to earn the Jogoos victory over their rivals.

After the match, SC Villa President Omar Mandela and former Express FC chairman Godfrey Kirumira reunited.

Both were big rivals at the time when SC Villa and Express dominated Ugandan football.

Meanwhile, both SC Villa and URA received Shs10M each courtesy of Hamis Kiggundu for their wins while Express FC and Kitara also earned Shs5M each.
