The organisers of the Fortebet Real Stars monthly awards have rewarded three Athletes from Netball, football and rugby for the best of the month of May.
The three athletes who were crowned on Tuesday at Lazio Restaurant in Lugogo are Fildausi Namulema (Netball), Shadia Nabirye (football) and rugby player Malcom Okello.
Fildausi Namulema from Netball plays as a Center player for National Insurance Corporation (NIC) netball club scooped the Fortebet real stars award for the month of May 2024.
She beat her teammate Rachael Nanyonga and Prisons’ Goal Shooter Christine Namulumba to the accolade.
Namulema was part of the NIC squad that won the recently concluded 2024 East African netball championship held in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania where she was named as the most valuable player (MVP).
During the round-robin tournament, NIC won their all the eight (8) games to lift their 22nd East African title.
Kawempe Muslim Secondary School’s Shadia Nabirye won the football accolade for her astonishing performances at the CAF African Schools championship in Zanzibar.
Nabirye helped her side finish as bronze medallist and was the top scorer at the tournament with three goals.
She beat Vipers’ captain Milton Karisa and Emmanuel Ajo of relegated Busoga United.
In rugby, Platinum Credit Heathens’ Malcom Okello was crowned. Okello toppled Emily Lekuru and Ivan Magomu.
All the winners walked away with a winners’ plaque and cash reward courtesy of main sponsors Fortebet and Jude Color solutions.
