Wakiso Giants are set to name Steven Bengo as their new head coach, Swift Sports Uganda understands.

Bengo will replace John Ayala Luyinda whose employment contract at Wakiso expired at the end of last season.

The club have already agreed terms with former SC Villa and KCCA FC star Bengo to take over ahead of the forthcoming 2024/25 season.

Sources also reveal that Bengo will work with another former Uganda Cranes international Tonny Mawejje.

Mawejje who retired from football in 2022 has been working as Charles Ayiekoh’s assistant at Kampala Queens.

Bengo on the other hand previously served as assistant coach at Wakiso Giants.

He also temporarily served as interim head coach at Wakiso following the departure of Deo Sserwadda in November, 2019.

Last season, the Purple Sharks finished 11th on the Uganda Premier league table with 32 points.
