Najib Yiga moves to SC Villa

Najib Yiga is the latest player to join reigning champions SC Villa, Swift Sports understands.

Yiga is currently training the 17-time league champions who are in preparation for the upcoming CECAFA Kagame Cup and the CAF Champions League.

Yiga spent the entire last season on loan at Kitara FC from Vipers SC but only featured in six league games.

He is expected to strengthen the SC Villa offensive department that already lost Umar Lutalo who left the club after his contract expired.

Yiga is a graduate of the Vipers Junior Team and the St. Mary’s Kitende school team.

He previously played for the national U17 (The Cubs) and U20 (The Hippos) teams and featured in the AFCON U17 and U20 tournaments in 2018 and 2020 respectable.

While at Vipers, Yiga won three Uganda Premier League titles in 2020, 2022 and 2023 as well as two Stanbic Uganda Cup in 2021 and 2023.

SC Villa already signed defender Geoffrey Lubangakene from newly promoted side Mbale Heroes as recruitment continues.
