Crested Cranes forward Sandra Nabweteme is set to complete her move to Santos Laguna Femenil in the Mexican Female League.
According to FUFA Radio 102.1 FM, Nabweteme will join Club Santos Laguna Femenil on a one year contract.
Nabweteme played for Turkish topflight side Karadeniz Eregli Belediyespor last season and scored 10 league goals in the process.
The former Kawempe Muslim striker will automatically become the first ever Ugandan player to play in the Mexican league.
She is expected to play a key role in Santos Laguna’s season having finished 17th on the league table last season.
Santos Laguna Femenil was established in 2016 as a female side of Club Santos Laguna which competes in the Mexican men’s topflight league.
Nabweteme has previously played for Thor/KA Akureyri and Fimleikafelag Hafnarfjardar during her brief stint in Iceland in 2021.
She also played Israel topflight sides Maccabi Hadera Kishronot and Hapoel Ironi Petah Tikva before moving to Turkey at the start of last season.
Nabweteme has so far played a total of 21 games for the Crested Cranes and scored seven goals.
She was part of the team that represented Uganda in the Women’s AFCON tournament in 2022 in Morocco.
