Charles Lukwago joins new club in South Africa

Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Charles Lukwago has joined Venda Football Club in the South African second tier league.

Lukwago has signed a two year contract with Venda FC after parting ways with Ethiopia’s Hawasa City.

The former KCCA FC captain joins other Ugandan goalkeepers plying their trade in South Africa who include Dennis Onyango, Ismail Watenga and Jamal Salim Magoola.

Lukwago’s club Venda FC will be aiming for promotion to the topflight league during the upcoming 2024/25 season.

Venda FC finished 12th on the league table last season having accumulated 35 points from the 30 games played.

Lukwago has also formerly played for Lweza FC, Proline FC, SC Victoria University and Ethiopian giants St. George among others.

He has 24 appearances in the national team colours since making his debut in 2019.
