The maiden Speaker Luba Lwanga Charles Inter-Parish Tournament makindye Division has reached the quarterfinal stage.
The inaugural tournament attracted over 20 parish teams during the group stage but it has now reached the knockout stage.
According to Luba Charles asserts that they have faced various challenges during the group phase but remains optimistic of a great climax
“It has not been an easy task for us to organize this tournament. Political battles and attachments, financial constraints, historical ideologies of Makindye Division have all horrendously affected us. I thank the residents, team managers that have been supportive to the teams and I am optimistic that we shall end the tournament on a high.” Said Luba
The inaugural tournament started on 25th May 2024 at Nsambya Yes Center sports Arena.The parish teams have played their games at a home and away basis in groupings of four with the top two teams in each group progressing to the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals, Kansanga will face off with Wabigalo, Kibuli will battle with Katwe1 while Kisugu will entertain Kabalagala. The other quarterfinal will be between Ggaba and Nsambya C.
The quarterfinals will be played on home and away basis. The first legs are due to kickoff on Saturday, 24th August at Seed Playground, Children School Playground, Kiwuliriza Playground and St.Mbaaga Playground.
