Prosper Soccer Academy retain Kampala Region U-17 League title

The 2023/24 Kampala Region U-17 League officially climaxed on Monday with a contest between Prosper Soccer Academy and KS Sparta 09 at Kawempe playground.

Prosper Soccer Academy under the stewardship of Ronald Ssali clinched the title after garnering 54 points in 18 games. They also prevailed 2-0 against Sparta in their final game, thanks to Najib Alawi and Bbosa Joseph goals.

“We thank the Almighty for yet another milestone. We have retained the Kampala Region U-17 title and I thank my players for the hard work and dedication.” The U-17 League is key for the future of the game in the country, so I thank the Federation for such competitions.” Said Ssali

This is the second season in succession that Prosper Soccer Academy has prevailed as champions.

To retain the crown, Prosper managed to win 13 games, drew 3 and only lost 2 in 18 matches they played.

Kampala Region U-17 final table standing

Edgars Youth Programme finished second on the table with 41 points while Proline Soccer Academy were third with 37 points.

Meanwhile, Prosper Soccer Academy’s Hakim Wandera was named as the Most Valuable player while his teammate Ssebumpenje Yusuf was the top scorer.

Edgars’ Sali Suleiman walked away with the best goalkeeper gong following his outstanding performances in the season.
