Uganda Premier league side Lugazi FC have confirmed the appointment of Stephen Bogere as their new head coach.

The new head coach replaces Sadiq Sempigi who was let go after being in charge for only five games.

Bogere has been awarded an employment contract of one year as confirmed by the club on their official social media platforms,

“We are delighted to announce Mr.Stephen Bogere as the club’s new head coach.”

“The experienced tactician has signed a one year employment contract with us and begins his new role effective Friday October 25,2024.”

The development comes after Lugazi failed to reach an agreement with former URA FC head coach David Obua over monthly salary.

Following the departure of Sempigi, Lugazi has been under the interim stewardship of Oliver Mbekeka who led them to their maiden topflight division win at Express FC earlier this week.

Previously, Bogere has coached at SC Villa, now defunct Victoria University, UPDF, Onduparaka, Proline FC, Buddu and Mawokota in the Masaza Cup tournament.

Lugazi FC currently occupy the 13th position with five points from six games.

Bogere’s first task will be against NEC FC on Wednesday 30th October at Lugazi FC Stadium.
