Kawempe Cycling Club has on Thursday, 31st October launched it’s maiden end of year bike race slated for December, 2024.
The inaugural championship will consist of hosts Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania and will be staged on Sunday 17, December, 2024.
The setting off point will be Gaz Petro Station in Kanyanya and the finishing point is at Ttula-Kilokole.
The championship will attract both female and male categories, the female will go for 60km while males’ race go to 120km.
Each participant will be required to pay a registration fee of Shs20,000 while a team of six cyclists will register for 100,000/.
Registration will be held from 14th- 16th December 2024 at Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC) and 50% of the registration fee will be given back to UWEC as part of Social Corporate Responsibility for Kawempe Cycling Club.
Uganda Cycling Federation President Samuel Muwonge Mahaba thanked Kawempe Cycling Club for the championship
“I take this opportunity to thank Kawempe Cycling Club for the championship due in December. It’s not easy for someone to invest huge sums of money into a cycling event.” I therefore call upon sponsors to grace the championship.”
Isa Nsereko Musoke, Kawempe Cycling Secretary says the event will help in tourism promotion
“This championship will help promote and develop our tourism sector in the country, the registration venue will be at Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC) and the 50% of the registration fee will be given back to UWEC to feed animals as part of our corporate social responsibility.” Said Nsereko
The winner in the men’s category will walk away with Shs3M, runner Up Shs1.5M, third Shs750,000, fourth Shs250,000, fifth Shs150,000 and Shs100000m for those who will finish from 6th to 10th.
The winner in the women’s event will smile with Shs500000, runner up Shs 300000 and Shs200000 for the one wjo will finish in third place.

Ugandan Cyclists such as Aziz Ssempija, Kintu Bucho, Khalid Mukuswabu, Mukisa Salak, and Mutebi Mahadi are some of the participants expected to take part in the championship.
