KCCA FC head coach Abdallah Mubiru is adamant that Vipers SC and KCCA FC game is just a top of the table clash but not a rivalry.
Mubiru also believes that Express Vs SC Villa is still a better rivalry than Vipers vs KCCA FC.
Speaking ahead of KCCA FC visit to Kitende due this Saturday, Mubiru explained why the two sides are not rivals.
“We are in preparation for the game tomorrow against Vipers. To us apart from being top of the table clash, there’s nothing much in that game because there’s no history attached to make this game big like we are trying to take it.”
“If you compare Express and SC Villa that is a derby because of the history attached to it but KCCA and Vipers apart from the big follow there’s no rivalry between the two teams.”
“So it’s just a top of the table clash and we are going to try to compete with our opponents to see that we maintain our rhythm and momentum.” Said Mubiru
In the past ten years, Vipers has cruised to five league titles while KCCA FC have managed three during that time with the two other title shared between the two historical sides in country Express FC and SC Villa.
Last season, KCCA FC beat Vipers SC home and away (3-1 at Lugogo and 1-0 at Kitende). In fact the 1-0 win at Kitende was the first ever win for the 13 time league champions at St.Mary’s Stadium.
KCCA FC will have Abu Mayanja, Sadat Anaku, Usama Arafat, Shafik Nana Kwikiriza and Etienne Katenga all available for selection.
