Co-hosts Uganda learn 2024 CHAN Opponents

The African Nations Championship (CHAN) Draw has been conducted on Wednesday at Kenyatta International Convention centre in Nairobi, Kenya.

East African legends Hassan Wasswa (Uganda), McDonald Mariga (Kenya) and Mrisho Ngasa of Tanzania conducted the draw. They were joined by the CAF Director of Competitions, Samson Adamu.

The rearranged tournament was scheduled for February 1st to 28th of the same month but was postponed to August 2025 to give host Nations Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania enough time to finish the infrastructure and facilities required to host a tournament of such a magnitude.

Co-hosts Kenya have been drawn in Group A dubbed as the group of death. They were paired against Morocco, Angola, Zambia and DR Congo.

Tanzania are in group B alongside Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso and Central African Republic.

Uganda who will be taking part in the competition for a record seven time are in group C with Niger, Guinea and will wait for other two nations that will qualify for the event.

Defending champions Senegal are in Group D along with Congo, Sudan and Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Egypt, Algeria, South Africa, Malawi, Gambia, Gabon & Comoros will compete in a qualification mini tournament to determine the two teams which will qualify as Q1 & Q2.

Group A: Kenya, Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, Zambia

Group B: Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic

Group C: Uganda, Niger, Guinea, Q2, Q1

Group D: Senegal (Defending champions), Congo, Sudan, Nigeria
