UPDF FC 1-2 KCCA FC
KCCA FC edged Paul Kiwanuka’s UPDF FC 2-1 in the 4pm kickoff played at Bombo Military Grounds to register a second successive victory.
Goals from Usama Arafati and Sadat Anaku ensured a slim and crucial victory for KCCA who had Joel Sserunjogi sent off moments into the second half.
Former KCCA forward Andrew Samson Kigozi scored a stunning volley but his exquisite strike turned out to be a mere consolation for the Army men.
Coming into the encounter, KCCA were seeking momentum having comprehensively beaten Mbale Heroes 5-0 in the previous game at Lugogo.
Usama Arafati gave the Abdallah Mubiru coached side a deserved lead with a brilliant turn and shoot strike from Haruna Lukwago’s cross in the 6th minute of the game.
One minute after the break, KCCA were reduced to 10 men after Sserunjogi was sent off by referee Shamira Nabadda for a second bookable offense.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, KCCA went on to double the lead through Sadat Anaku with a neat finish from Said Mayanja’s brilliant assist in the 70th minute.
Kigozi halved the deficit with a ferocious strike from the edge of the box in the 81st minute.
