Kitara overcome Gaddafi as Police edge Maroons to reach Stanbic Uganda Cup Quarters

Holders Kitara FC and Police FC became the first teams to progress to the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinals following their victories over Gaddafi FC and Maroons FC respectively.

Kitara needed a comeback win to overcome FUFA Big League entity Gaddafi FC 2-1 at Entebbe Works playground on Monday.

Tom Kakaire had given the home side the lead in the 16th minute before Fred Amaku levelled matters in the 26th minute.

John Bosco Byaruhanga won it for Wasswa Bbosa coached side five minutes after the recess.

Meanwhile, Police FC needed Dennis Kalanzi first half goal to end Maroons’ Uganda Cup journey in the other round of 16 tie on Monday.

Kalanzi ‘s goal for the 2023 competition runners up came in the 9th minute of the contest.

His goal was enough to send the Cops into the last eight joining holders Kitara FC.

On Tuesday, Lugazi FC will welcome nine time winners SC Villa at Lugazi Stadium while KCCA FC will battle with Rwenzori Lions FC at Lugogo.

The other fixture on Tuesday will be between 2022 winners BUL FC and Total FC who eliminated Express FC.

On Wednesday, 19th March, Kaaro Karungi FC will lock horns with UPDF FC at Kyamate playground while URA FC will battle for a place in the quarterfinals with Kataka FC at Nakivubo Stadium on the same day.

The final round of 16 fixture will be between three time competition winners Vipers SC against NEC FC tormentors Blacks Power under the floodlights of Kitende.
