David GOMBE
Newly appointed Gomba head coach Simon Ddungu alias Dunga has set his target ahead of the 2025 Buganda Masaza Cup.
Ddungu believes with hard work and cooperation that five time competition winners can clinch a record extending title this year.
“I am delighted to return to Gomba, I thank the management for entrusting me. I urge all Gomba fans and well wishers to cooperate with us so that we can win a record extending Masaza Cup title. It’s not easy to win the Masaza Cup prestigious trophy but I am a winner and my record speaks for itself.” Said Ddungu
Ddungu guided Buddu to last year’s Masaza Cup triumph beating Kyaggwe in the final that was held at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.
In 2017, he led Gomba to their fourth Masaza Cup crown when they beat Ssingo in the final thanks to a Nicholas Kabonge sole goal.
He has previously coached at Ssingo, Busiro, Mawokota, Gomba and Buddu.
Ddungu will work with Simon Gitta and Edgar Bwogi as his first and second assistants while Jamada Magaasi is the goalkeeping coach.
Gomba have won the competition a record five times in 2004, 2009, 2014, 2017 and 2020.
