NEC FC lost ground on leaders Vipers SC in the Uganda Premier league title race after being held to a goalless draw by UPDF FC on Friday in Bombo.
Hussein Mbalangu’s side had a chance to close the gap on Vipers to two points but failed to maximize points in Bombo.
Vipers who lost to soon to be dethroned Champions SC Villa at Wankulukuku last weekend recovered with a narrow win over Lugazi FC on Thursday at Kitende.
NEC who are now unbeaten in 15 games continued to struggle away from home and couldn’t breakdown a resilient army side coached by former Vipers assistant coach Paul Kiwanuka.
Mbalangu’s charges have only managed three wins, six draws and lost two games on the road this term.
The DieHards have collected most of their points at home this term only dropping points against Police FC in the 11 games they have hosted.
NEC are second on the log with 48 points, four adrift of leaders Vipers whom they face on 17th April at Kitende. UPDF are 10th with 28 points.
