The State Minister for Sports Peter Ogwang has confirmed that floodlights will be installed at Muteesa II Stadium before the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament due to be Co-hosted in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania in August this year.
Wankulukuku Stadium is among the training grounds to be used during the competition alongside Mandela National Stadium outside pitch, Kadiba and Kyambogo.
Earlier this year, the UPDF engineering brigade carried out renovations on the dressing rooms and the pitch ahead of the delayed CHAN tournament.

While appearing on CK Sports Ogwang revealed that CAF has insisted that floodlights should be installed at the facility before the re-arranged championship.
“We had to put in dressing rooms which are update, worked on the stands and on top of that we worked on the pitch. CAF has also asked us to work on the irrigation to make sure it can maintain the pitch and asked us to put in floodlights and the goal posts. We are working harder that we put in floodlights because it’s a requirement which CAF has insisted on and I assure you those will be ready before CHAN.” Ogwang told CK Sports.
