Holders Kitara FC will be seeking to continue with their dreams of an historic second successive Stanbic Uganda Cup triumph when they take on BUL FC in the quarterfinal tie at Butema Royal Park on Sunday.
They will also be targeting revenge over BUL FC who beat them home and way in the league this term.
Kitara ousted Gaddafi FC 2-1 in their round of 16 contest while BUL FC shellacked Total FC 7-0 in the previous round.
George Lutalo, Kitara FC assistant coach is optimistic ahead of the game
“Any team in the knockout round has to be a good team. We have shown a good character from the opening round and the boys gave a good account of themselves and made sure we get to this stage. We are not worried about our visitor’s recent form, we have prepared ourselves well both technically and mentally. It will be a good battle,” said Lutalo.
Abbey Kikomeko’s men are unbeaten this year and will be aiming to seal a place in the semis. In case they prevail it will be their third Semifinal in four years.
Last year, the 2022 competition winners BUL were eliminated at the semifinal stage by runners-up NEC FC.
In the previous meeting between the two sides, BUL edged Kitara FC 1-0 at Nakivubo a result that saw the Eastern Giants complete a double over the Royals.
