Gazelles Learn FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Opponents

Uganda’s national basketball women’s team, the Gazelles have learnt their group stage opponents for the forthcoming 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket.

At the draw held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Uganda was drawn in group C alongside Senegal and Guinea.

Group A has Mali, Cameroon and South Sudan while Group D has Nigeria, Mozambique and Rwanda.

The winners in each of the three groups will prevail to the quarterfinals while the second placed teams and third will lock horns in the qualifying round for a slot in the quarters.

The tournament is slated for July 26th to August 3rd in Ivory Coast.

The Gazelles sealed their spot at the continental showpiece following a dominant 74-63 victory over Egypt in the Zone V Qualifiers.

Uganda is managed by Nicholas Natuhereza and are making their own fourth appearance at the continental showpiece having previously featured at the 1997, 2015 and 2013 editions.
