*Uganda Martyrs win 3-0 on penalties
Uganda Martyrs reached the semi finals of the FUFA Women’s Cup after defeating Lady Doves 3-0 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at full-time in a game played at the St. Gerald’s Stadium in Lubaga.
Skipper Latifah Nakasi scored for the Lubaga school side before Everline Nandera equalized for the visitors.
Nakasi drew first blood after Lady Doves failed to clear their lines in the 18th minute of the game.
Nandera levelled matters from the penalty spot following Sharon Kanyiginya’s reckless foul on Resty Kobusobozi in the box in the 43rd minute.
Both sides scrambled for dominance in pursuit of the winning goal that eventually never came even after the extra time.
The tie was subsequently decided by a shoot out that saw all the three Lady Doves players miss. Diana Nantongo hit the lower post, left back Olivia Babirye shot wide whereas Kobusobozi’s effort was saved by goalkeeper Joan Namusisi.
Nakasi, Nusurah Nakintu and Kanyiginya scored for Uganda Martyrs while Comfort Achullu’s penalty was saved by the Tanzanian goalkeeper Omary Marsha.
The other games played on the day saw She Corporate edge Kawempe Muslim 6-5 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at Bugembe Stadium while Amus College survived a late scare to eliminate Wakiso Hill 3-2 in Bukedea.
Uganda Martyrs will play against Amus College in a two legged semi-final while She Corporate will face the winner between Kampala Queens and St. Noah.
