The 2025 UMEA Solidarity Games have been boosted by a timely sponsorship by Mavid Pharmaceuticals Limited.
The sponsorship package, worth six million shillings, has been officially unveiled at the Mavid Pharmaceuticals offices in Kampala on Monday morning.
Mavid Pharmaceuticals will facilitate the opening and closing ceremonies of this year’s UMEA Games as well as all football competitions.
The UMEA Solidarity Games will be held between Thursday 17th April and Monday 21st April at Namagabi Secondary School in Kayunga District.
Speaking on behalf of Mavid Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Aisha Bukenya expressed her delight for an opportunity to sponsor sports among Muslim founded secondary schools.
” We want to foster sports development in the country. We are here to partner with UMEA for not only one year, but also for years to come.” Dr. Bukenya said.
” We are going to buy balls for the football competitions, but also to facilitate the opening and closing ceremonies.” She added.
Mavid Pharmaceuticals Limited is among the leading manufacturers, distributors and retailers of medicine in the country.
Hajji Twahir Kitezaala, the chairman of the UMEA Solidarity Games, expressed his delight upon announcing the new sponsorship.
” As you are all aware, sponsorships in this country especially in sports is low. This package means a lot to UMEA, Mavid Pharmaceuticals Limited is coming in at the right time with 6 million shillings.” Hajji Kitezaala said.
” We hope it is going a long way in making our games better.” He added.
Over 67 Muslim Secondary Schools have so far confirmed participation in this year’s UMEA Solidarity Games.
Kibuli Secondary School emerged as the overall champions at last year’s edition which was held at Masaka Secondary School.
