The Uganda Premier League and Women’s Super League highest paid players and coaches have been revealed by Swift Sports Uganda.
There are no prizes for guessing which player tops the pile in the UPL, with Vipers’ starman Allan Okello way out in front.
Okello who joined the Venoms at the start of the 2023/24 season on a whopping three year deal, is estimated to be taking home a gross monthly salary of Shs7m.
But the 2024/25 UPL top scorer goes well beyond that when including bonuses.
It’s Okello’s team-mate in second spot on the list. Mauritania Mohamed Salem Ekbad who is estimated to be earning a gross monthly amount of Shs6.5m.
Ekbad joined the Venoms at the start of the 2023/24 season on a two year employment contract making him the first player from Mauritania to sign for a Ugandan club.
Congolese goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza is on Shs6M a month without taking into account any bonuses involved in his contract.
In the Women’s Super League, Kampala Queens Daizy Nakaziro is estimated to be taking home a monthly salary of Shs1.5M while her teammate Kenyan midfielder Merceline Wayodi bags Shs1.2m a month.
Nakaziro was also the top earner in Women’s topflight division during her time at Lady Doves.
Wayodi joined Kampala Queens in January, 2024 on a two year deal from Vihiga Queens Football Club. Their skipper Shamirah Nalugya is third on the list and is estimated to be earning Shs600,000 per month.
In terms of coaches, Wasswa Bbosa and Alex Isabirye Musongola lead the way.
URA FC’s Isabirye is reported to be on Shs9m-a-month, while Bbosa banks Shs8M.
Kampala Queens’ Ethiopian coach Asefa Firew Hailegebreal earns $2500 a month while Vipers co-coach John Ayala Luyinda is estimated to be earning Shs6.5m a month.
Former KCCA FC tactician Abdallah Mubiru was banking a monthly salary of Shs11m during his tenure at the 13 time Uganda Premier league champions.
