Buddu’s 2024 Masaza winning Captain Ssebulime close to Mawokota move

Reigning Buganda Masaza Cup champions Buddu are set to lose their captain Pius Ssebulime for three time winners Mawokota.

Sources reveal that Ssebulime asked for Shs8M if he is to stay at Buddu but the team management can only afford Shs3M.

Ssebulime was instrumental for Buddu on their way to a third Masaza Cup title last year beating Kyaggwe 1-0 in the final at Namboole.

Mawokota has been boosted by the return of Dr Lawrence Mulindwa with Harunah Kyobe serving as the team manager are close to signing Ssebulime.

Ssebulime has previously featured for Mawokota who are seeking glory for the first time in 12 years with their last triumph coming in 2013.

Mawokota are under the stewardship of David Katono Mutono who will be deputized by former Vipers SC left back Dan Birikwalira. Birikwalira was also part of the 2013 triumphant Mawokota.

They are previous winners of the competition in 2005, 2007 and 2013. The prestigious event will officially kickoff on Saturday 21st June at Kitovu Sports Arena with holders Buddu facing off with record winners Gomba.
