South African giants Kaizer Chiefs have expressed their interest in signing Uganda Cranes striker Steven Dese Mukwala from Simba SC.
According to renowned African football journalist Micky Jnr, Kaizer Chiefs coach Nassedrine Nabi came to Tanzania to watch Mukwala as Simba played against Singida Black Stars in Dar es Salaam a week ago.
Micky Jnr reveals that Nabi’s assistant Cedric Kaze and Kaizer Chiefs’ head of scouting and recruitment Thembela Maliwa had a secret meeting with Mukwala’s agent on a potential move.
The revelation comes shortly after Moroccan giants RS Berkane made an inquiry on Mukwala after the final of the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup against Simba SC in Zanzibar.
RS Berkane are willing to pay $300,000 as the transfer fee to have the Uganda Cranes striker in their squad next season.
Micky Jnr also states that Simba SC President Mo Dewji has told the club not to engage in any transfer negotiations until the end of the Tanzania Premier League season that has three games left.
Mukwala who joined Simba from Asante Kotoko last year, has impressively scored 12 League goals and three assists in only 1049 minutes.
His outstanding exploits have also helped him to win consecutive Player of the Month awards for April and May.
