Kitara FC chairman Deo Kasozi Akiiki has announced that he will not extend his tenure at the helm of the Uganda Premier league side.
The legal practitioner who assumed office on July 22, 2022, replacing Godfrey Bamwenda asserted that he opted out of the office due to constitutional obligations after serving three years.
“The main reason as to why I am stepping down to well stipulated in the club constitution is that the president will serve a term of three years, and I am not extending that.”
“We have had the most successful three years of the club, and I hope to see more success.”
Kasozi assumed leadership during the time when the club had suffered relegation in the 2021/22 season and built a workforce that saw it gain promotion in 2023/24 season.
Before assuming the biggest office at the club, he had earlier on served as the vice president in charge of finance.
He assembled a strong squad and handed it experienced tactician Sam Ssimbwa who steered the club back to the topflight.
Sources privy to this website reveal that Gilbert Nyaika will under interim basis serve as the chairman as the club hierarchy organises elections to replace Kasozi who has raised the bar so high after winning their first ever silverware when they beat NEC to win the Uganda Cup and also played in the CAF Confederation Cup last year.
