Egyptian Women’s Premier League side Al Ahly Women Football Club has expressed interest in signing Crested Cranes winger Zainah Nandede from Kampala Queens.
Nandede who was recently voted the Most Valuable Player in the 2024 MTN FUFA Awards, has garnered interest of three other clubs following a successful 2024/25 season.
Egyptian side Arab Contractors (Al Mokawloon), Phoenix Marrakech of Morocco and Tanzanian giants Simba Queens have all expressed keen interest in the Kampala Queens pacy winger.
Al Ahly has joined the race for her signature in bid to reinforce the squad to compete for the league title in the upcoming season.
Al Ahly Women FC is the female side of the Al Ahly men’s team which is the most successful club in Egypt and on the African continent.
The Al Ahly Women’s team was established in 2021 and their only major silverware has been the 2025 Egyptian Women’s Cup.
According to 102.1 FUFA FM, Nandede’s employment contract with Kampala Queens is bound to expire as the 2025/26 Women Super League season draws closer.
Kampala Queens are also keen to keep one of their best performers ahead of the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers to be held in Tanzania.
Nandede joined Kampala Queens in 2022 from She Kataka and gradually became one of the most important forwards on the team.
She scored a total of eight goals last season and two assists as Kampala Queens won the league title at the expense of their rivals Kawempe Muslim.
Nandede has also previously been part of the national U17 and U20 Team set-ups before establishing a place for herself on the senior national team The Crested Cranes.
Lately, Nandede has been deployed as a right back on the national team, a position she played at the recently concluded CECAFA Women’s Championship in Tanzania.
The Egyptian Women’s Premier League is also home to Crested Cranes midfielder-cum-defender Phiona Nabulime who plays for the reigning champions Masar FC.
