Experienced goalkeeper Odongkara set to join UPL side

Goalkeeper Robert Odongkara is closing in on a move to newly promoted Uganda Premier league side Gaddafi FC.

Swift Sports Uganda understands that Odongkara is expected to sign one year employment contract with the Abdallah Mubiru coached side.

In case the deal materializes, the experienced goalkeeper will bloster Gaddafi FC’s goalkeeping department.

Odongkara is former Sports Club Villa and Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) player.

He also featured for Ethiopia’s record champions St George Football Club in 2012, playing 7 consecutive seasons at the Addis Ababa based entity.

He left St George in 2018 and joined rivals Adama City which he played for a season before joining Horoya Athletic Club in Guinea.

Wolkite Football Club is the other side that Odongkara has played for.

The custodian has 29 caps for the Uganda Cranes since 2010 having played in the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup, two Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in 2017 (Gabon) and 2019 (Egypt) as well as several AFCON and FIFA World Cup qualification campaigns.

Gaddafi have already signed Hassan Ssenyonjo, Steven Munguchi and Musitafa Mujuzi in this transfer window.
