Uganda Premier League clubs have called for an urgent meeting to discuss the recently introduced league format.
The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 27th August at Serena Hotel in Kampala at 2Pm.
In the document seen by this website the club Presidents will discuss the recently introduced competition reforms and revenue sharing arrangements by FUFA.
According to the clubs FUFA President, Mr. Moses Magogo, has so far declined to engage in comprehensive discussions with the Clubs on these critical matters.
“We believe that meaningful and exhaustive engagement with all stakeholders is essential to ensure that any changes benefit the long-term sustainability and growth of Ugandan football. Additionally, all other Club Presidents of the Teams that shall participate in 2025/26 Premier league who we could not reach out to are also kindly invited to attend this meeting.” Reads part of the document.
Last week in a circular from FUFA, a new topflight format that will replace the current one ahead of the 2025/26 was confirmed.
The circular signed by FUFA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Edgar Watson showed massive changes with the league now to be played in three rounds.
The clubs also state that a collective decision to meet will underscore commitment.
“The collective decision to meet underscores our commitment to protecting the interests of our clubs, players, and fans, and to ensuring that all major decisions affecting the league are made through a process of mutual understanding and agreement. We remain open to dialogue and are hopeful that a constructive path forward can be found for the good of the game.”
Meanwhile, SC Villa, Vipers SC, KCCA FC, NEC FC, URA FC, Maroons FC, Police FC, UPDF FC have unanimously resolved to address the implementation and/or
potential suspension of the said reforms until a consensus can be reached on the subject.
