Uganda’s female boxers Fatuma Nabikolo and Angel Katushabe will not take part at the ongoing Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh due to genetic sex test certificates.
The two Ugandan boxers have been excluded from the ongoing Games in Saudi Arabia for lack of mandatory genetic sex test certificates.
That means only the two male boxers who are Alfred Ojok playing in the 80Kg category and Jimmy Adriko in the 60Kg will represent Uganda.
It has been established that such tests are now a prerequisite by World Boxing, the global body in charge of these games before the competition begins.
“We are sad that our female boxers shall not compete despite preparing well. There was amiscommunication between our bosses at the global stage and the local federation. However, we have the two male players ready to battle.” Said Samuel Kabugo, Uganda’s head coach as quoted by Kawowo Sports
Nabikolo is a featherweight boxer while Katushabe competes in the lightweight category were disqualified from competing for failing to undergo the mandatory Gender Eligibility Tests, a requirement recently reinforced by World Boxing, the sport’s global governing body.
