SC Volcanoes have strengthened their squad with the signing of seven new players as the club intensifies its push for promotion to the FUFA Big League next season.
Club president Dr. Martin Mbonye confirmed that all the new recruits have signed short-term contracts running until the end of the current campaign, with extensions subject to performance.
The Kisoro based side, competing in the FUFA Western Regional League, have enjoyed a remarkable debut season and currently lead the table and also made a notable impression in the Uganda Cup, where their journey ended at the Round of 32.

Derrick Ikooza (aka Neymar) left Back, formerly of Six O’clock FC
Francis Ndahura (aka April) left Winger, from Six O’clock FC from Bushenyi, Samari Faruku Attacking Midfielder, from Kuluva Rainbow FC (Arua District),Emmanuel Ogwang Attacking Midfielder, from MYDA FC (Mbale)Magende Benon (Ben) Defensive Midfielder, from Synergy FC (Bugerere),Alijuna Benard Central Defender, from Ntinda United FC (Kampala),Kayongo Shaban Striker, from Nantabulirwa FC (Mukono)
According to the club, The signings intend to reflect the club’s intent to add depth and experience across all departments as they approach the decisive stage of the season.
In the same development, Dr. Mbonye confirmed the departure of several players who have moved on to pursue opportunities elsewhere, including McDonald Buule, Walusimbi Muhamad, Iradukunda Esau, Ofwono Jotham, Shafik Kabugo, Kwiringira Timothy, and Ivan Akatwijuka.
However, Head coach Patrick Ochan has confirmed that all the newly signed players have arrived at camp and begun training with the team despite some still awaiting completion of their playing licenses.
Ochan revealed that only two of the seven signings have officially featured so far, namely Emmanuel Ogwang and Derrick Ikooza.
He added that, the remaining players are expected to be available for selection once their licensing process is finalized.
He assured supporters that all necessary procedures have been completed by the club, with only formal clearance remaining before the full squad can be deployed.
Meanwhile, SC Volcanoes will return to league action on March 10, 2026, when they face Kihihi Young Boys at Kihihi High School Playground in Kanungu District in what promises to be a crucial Western Regional League encounter With the momentum on their side and reinforcements secured and continuing signaling serious intent in their pursuit of promotion to a nother level in Uganda football.
