SC Volcanoes (Mutolere SC) delivered a command as it punishes Makenke barracks with 3–0 victory at Makenke miltary barracks playgrounds with the hosts attributing their defeat to heavy government and security commitments that disrupted their preparations.
The result pushes SC Volcanoes to 39 points with 32 goals, strengthening their grip at the top of the Western Region League table. Meanwhile, Makenke Barracks FC drop from 4th to 7th place, sitting on 12 points with a -7 goal difference.
SC Volcanoes arrived at Makenke Barracks playgrounds at 3:15 PM, setting the tone early in the match. Within the opening eight minutes, the visitors displayed dangerous attacking intent, earning several corners, though Makenke’s defense, led by shirt numbers 6 and 16, stood firm to deny an early breakthrough.
Midway through the first half, Makenke responded with a series of aggressive attacks. A well-worked move involving shirt number 10 on the wing and long passes from number 15 tested the Volcanoes defense. However, Volcanoes reorganized quickly, with their backline regaining control and transitioning play through accurate passing in midfield.
Despite creating clear chances, SC Volcanoes failed to capitalize before halftime. In the 40th minute, striker Julius Lukyamuzi (No. 9) missed an open goal, while a midfielder shirt number 12 squandered another crucial opportunity moments later, sending the teams into the break level at 0–0.
The second half opened with renewed intensity from Makenke, who pressed forward in search of the opener. However, SC Volcanoes gradually regained control. In the 60th minute, they won five consecutive corners but still couldn’t find the net.
The breakthrough finally came in the 67th minute, as SC Volcanoes took the lead to make it 1–0 goal from Lukyamuzi Julius Momentum quickly shifted, and by the 75th minute, a defensive error from Makenke gifted Volcanoes an own goala after a well delivered long ball.
SC Volcanoes sealed the victory in the 78th minute, when midfielder April (No. 8) fired in a powerful strike to make it 3–0.
Speaking to media after the match, Makenke Barracks FC head coach, Coach Mbiriwe, cited poor preparation as a key factor in the loss:
He said that,they are not doing badly this season, but are also not where they want to be disclosing that, One of their biggest challenges is preparation
He said that Being team of soldiers they were called for government duty and missed their final training session asserting that, they went straight into the match without proper preparation which he think affected their performance.
He praised his players for their resilience despite the circumstances and urged them to remain committed.
When asked about transfers next seoson ,He acknowledged financial constraints, noting that signing players in the region requires significant funding, which the club currently lacks.
Mewnwhile ,SC Volcanoes head coach, Coach Patrick Ochan, applauded his team’s performance.
Saying that Winning 3–0 away from home is not easy adding that, they should have scored more in first where many chances were created many but lacked concentration in the first half despite improving in second half.
He also praised his team’s ball movement despite the difficult pitch conditions:

Looking ahead, Ochan emphasized the importance of upcoming fixtures, including a crucial clash against second-placed Six O’clock saying that they will be immediately travel back for tommorrow,s training session as they prepare for tight upcoming fixtures.
He asserted that, SC Volcanoes now shift focus to a high stakes encounter against Six O’clock at Mashaka Playground in Kisoro, a match that could further define the title race and standings.
