Record Bika Byabaganda champions Mmamba Namakaka have named their technical staff for the 2026 Bika Football competition.
UPDF head coach Alex Gitta will steer Mmamba Namakaka in this year’s event and they will battle with four time Bika football winners Ngeye in the 2026 opener on Saturday at Muteesa II Stadium.
Gitta will be assisted by Robert Ssekwayama while Ben Kalama is the goalkeeping coach. Major Nkugwa David will serve as the team manager while the technical director is Peter Nkugwa.
Mmamba Gabunga are record winners with 10 shields having won it in 1952, 1956, 1959, 1964, 1965, 1989, 1994, 2003, 2011, 2014).
Mmamba Namakaka are in Group C along with Ngeye, Nvubu and Njaza.
In Netball, Mubiru Rashid is the Mmamba clan head coach while Mugisha Ali is the assistant coach. Nakibuuka Sarah is the Technical manager whereas Frederick Edward Ssemuwemba Mutengeesa is the team manager.
Two football matches will headline the opening day:
3:00 PM: Mmamba Namakaka vs Ngeye
7:00 PM: Omusu vs Nte
Gates will open early in the morning, with clans engaging in a curtain-raising “Netball Gala” competition that will run for two days, continuing the following day (3rd May) to determine finalists
On the opening day, Spectators will be treated to a variety of traditional games including ekigwo, omweso, and other activities. There will also be cultural parades where each clan will showcase its identity, with members carrying placards representing their clans.
Eight clans have already been seeded directly into the Round of 16 of the football competition.

The remaining 32 clans have been drawn into eight groups as follows:
Group A: Butiko, Musu, Nte, Ffumbe
Group B: Mbogo, Nkusu, Ngoonge, Nswaaswa
Group C: Njaza, Mamba Namakaka, Ngeye, Nvubu
Group D: Mpindi, Kinyomo, Mbwa, Njobe
Group E: Lugave, Njovu, Nvuma, Mpeewo
Group F: Kasimba, Nsuma, Nnyonnyi Nnyange, Ndiisa
Group G: Nkima, Mutima Muyanja, Nkerebwe, Kibe
Group H: Olulyo Olulangira, Ngaali, Nakinsinge, Ntalaganya
Top teams from these groups will join the seeded teams in the knockout stage.
