Emmanuel Mubiru alias Omuyaye Ganja has hailed his son for showcasing his talent on the international level while representing Uganda Cubs at the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations final tournament this month.
Mubiru, who is a student of St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende converted the decisive penalty against Ghana that sent Uganda Cubs to the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
“I am happy that my son is representing the country on international level through his talent. I was also a footballer at Kajjansi Progressive in the early 90s but couldn’t go to this level like my son due to lack of resources. I thank God that my son is doing what I failed to do during my time.” Said Omuyaye Ganja who is a comedian, musician and radio presenter
FUFA President Moses Magogo also praised the youngster’s character and leadership qualities, recalling how Mubiru was confident while addressing his teammates despite being one of the youngest members of the squad that represented Uganda at the 2025 global showpiece.
“Sometimes it is not just about talent. Sometimes it is about character,” Hon. Magogo said.
He also recognised Mubiru’s parents for supporting the player’s football journey.
One of Mubiru’s coaches Daniel Male at St Mary’s Kitende once praised the youngster for his attitude while playing for the school at the schools championships.
Mubiru and company will be seeking to make more history when Uganda Cubs return to World Cup due in Qater later this year.
