Bashir Mutanda has announced that he will be retiring from football at the end of the FUFA Big League season, bringing the curtain down on glittering career.

The Wakiso Giants forward will be playing against Young Elephants Academy in Nwoya later this afternoon before hunging down his boots.

Unfortunately, I feel like time is up for me though I would have loved to still play the beautiful game,” Mutanda told Kawowo Sports before revealing that careers have played a big part in his early retirement at the age of 28.

“For the past five years, I have depended on pain killers to play football and it is hurting. And this injury has taken a toll on me limiting my abilities including reducing the pace at which I want to play. I feel I have made the right decision for the good of my health.” Said Mutanda as quoted by Kawowo Sports

Mutanda has nine FUFA Big League goals for Wakiso Giants this term and will hope to end his football career on a high.

The forward began his football career at Vipers SC where he won the Juniors league in 2016. He also played for Busoga United (2017-2018), SC Villa (2018-2020), Mbarara City (2020-2021), Mbabane Swallows (2021-2024), Maroons FC (2024-2025) and lately Wakiso Giants (2025-2026).
