Uganda Premier League side Kitara FC and Maroons have confirmed that they are currently working on areas required for improvements at their home venues.
Kitara had their Royals Park Butema rejected by the FUFA Licensing committee due to a bumpy and uneven playing surface, lack of signage and Inadequate dressing room lockers as well as lack facilities of convenience were some of the reasons given for rejection.
In their statement, the Stanbic Uganda Cup champions confirmed that they have already responded to FUFA’s inspection report on their beloved Royals Park Butema.
“Kitara FC acknowledges receipt of the FUFA Stadium Inspection Report for Royals Park Butema.
The Club appreciates FUFA’s commitment to maintaining high stadium standards and wishes to assure its supporters and stakeholders that all identified areas requiring improvement are already being addressed. We remain committed to ensuring that Royals Park Butema fully complies with the required standards and look forward to welcoming our fans back to an improved facility.” Reads the statement
Meanwhile, Maroons have also confirmed upgrades on their Luzira Prisons Ground. FUFA revealed some of the reasons for rejection which are; the field of play requires general turf maintenance, the drainage channels within the stadium are uncovered, dressing rooms are in poor state, venue has now media working area among others
Maroons response to the rejection of the venue
“Maroons FC has taken note of the communication from the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) regarding stadiums that did not meet the Club Licensing requirements for the 2026/27 season. The Club confirms that the stadium is currently undergoing renovation works. We are confident that these upgrades will be completed in time for the start of the league season, enabling the venue to fully comply with all FUFA standards. Maroons FC respects the licensing process and remains fully committed to fulfilling every aspect of FUFA’s Club Licensing requirements. The ongoing renovations are progressing steadily, and we are working closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure our home ground is ready and approved ahead of the new season.
Maroons Football Club reassures its supporters, partners, and the football fraternity that this temporary situation will not affect our overall preparations. We appeal to our fans to remain calm and positive as we focus on the exciting football calendar ahead.”
Meanwhile, Maroons FC will take on SC Villa in the FUFA Super 8 tournament, which begins commences on Saturday, 1st August 2026 at MTN Omondi Stadium while Kitara FC will battle with Entebbe UPPC at Hamz Stadium the following day.
