Andrew Wambi has stepped down from his role as Mbale Heroes Football Club chairman. He confirmed the development in a statement dated 30th June, 2025.
Mbale Heroes were relegated from the Uganda Premier league last term after finishing bottom of the log.
In his resignation Wambi stated,
“I trust this message finds you well. I write to formally notify you of my decision to step down from the position of President/Chairman of Mbale Heroes Football Club, effective immediately.
This decision is purely a result of personal reasons, the reality of my demanding busy schedule, and upcoming engaging commitments, which will unfortunately limit my capacity to dedicate sufficient time and attention to the club’s affairs.
It has been a great honor to serve Mbale Heroes Football Club in this leadership role. I am proud of the milestones we have achieved together and the firm foundation we have laid for the future.”
Wambi also confirmed the interim leadership of the club as they prepare for their return to the FUFA Big League next season
“In the interim, and in line with the Club Constitution, I appoint the Vice Chairman Counsel Ojok Geofrey Odur & Jessica Muduwa to manage the transition, day-to-day operations of the Club and to oversee the due process of electing new leadership
Please note that although I step aside from the helm, I remain fully committed to the spirit and success of the Club. I shall continue to serve in the capacity of a dedicated supporter, advisor, consultant, & well-wisher whenever called upon.
I am confident that with your continued commitment, the club will rise to even greater heights. Thank you for the trust and the opportunity to serve. I wish you all the very best.” Read the statement from Wambi
During his leadership he helped the club gain top-flight status for the first time in nearly two decades.
But they stay in the UPL short-lived due to poor performances as they ended the 2024/25 league campaign bottom placed.
