Uganda Cricket Cranes have qualified for the T20 World Cup for the first time in history after victory over Rwanda Cricket on Thursday.

Uganda won by 9 wickets with 71 balls to clinch a slot in next year’s global showpiece that will be held in USA and West Indies next year.

Alpesh Ramjani (2/1 in 3 overs) was named as man of the match.

Besides Ramjani, Simon Ssesazi (26), Ronak Patel (18) and Roger Mukasa (13) were also instrumental in Uganda’s victory over Rwanda.

Before their win over Rwanda, the Cricket Cranes had prevailed over Zimbabwe and Kenya.

They only lost to Namibia who finished top while Uganda cruised as the second placed team and will now battle with the best teams across the globe.

Uganda becomes the 20th nation at the 2024 T20 World Cup. They join other qualified nations who are Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Siri Lanka, Pakistan, Canada, Papua Guinea, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Namibia, Ireland, Scotland, Nepal and Oman
