Express FC fans allegedly beat assistant Referee Fahad Sekayuba during their 1-1 stalemate with UPDF FC on Friday in Bombo.

The Red Eagles were destinated for a fourth consecutive victory but in the 81st minute, Bright Vuni’s goal bound header was cleared off the line by Derrick Ngoobi before Sekayuba signaled to the center Referee Stephen Kimayo that the ball had crossed the line.

Kimayo awarded the goal after minutes of delay.

Midfielder Emmanuel Wasswa had earlier given Express FC the lead off a quality Alpha Ssali cross.

By full time whistle, the two side shared the points in a tense game in Bombo.

Assistant Referee Sekayuba was allegedly beaten by Express FC fans as he was heading back to Kampala.

The actions of hooliganism and violence left Sekayuba in critical condition. Swift Sports Uganda understands that he is currently in ICU at Mulago Hospital.

The Federation is expected to release a statement regarding the incident.

In a document from FUFA President Moses Magogo about hooliganism and violence at football events, he stated that it will be the role of the clubs to identify the culprits and report them to FUFA before they are handed over to the relevant government authorities for justice.
